In an unprecedented event, our bus got into Bangkok early! The VIP bus arrived in Bangkok at 5:00, a hour early. When we got off the bus we were both reminded how large Mo Chit (the northern bus station) is. We collected our baggage and got into line for a taxi.

After a short wait we loaded into the cab and headed for Khao San Road. We headed straight for the only hostel we had ever stayed at in the area, Baan Sabai. Unfortunately, they were full! We were surprised to find that almost every hostel in the area was totally booked! We wandered around the dark road for almost half an hour looking for a place to stay. Eventually, we found a hole in the wall hostel that had a vacancy and wasn’t too expensive (450 baht).

The room was surprisingly nice. We had a large bed, TV, and hot shower. Jackie and I tossed down our stuff and fell asleep.

A few minutes before 10:00 we woke back up. I made a trip to pick up the hostel essentials (toilet paper and water) and get us some breakfast while Jackie prepared herself for the day. Twenty minutes later I returned with mango sticky rice and coffee flavored milk (two of Jackie’s favorites).

After eating we sat around and went through some photos and recapped Jackie’s trip. I caught up on my blog and took a quick shower. At 14:00 we made a trip to Baan Sabai to use the internet and pick up Jackie’s checked baggage.

Once we had all of our belongings back in our room we decided to head out to the street to do some last minute shopping. On the way we stopped at the Secret Garden for some lunch. It is an awesome place (and shortcut) with super tasty food.

We spent the next several hours shopping around. In a crazy turn of events, I purchased more things than Jackie! At around 17:30 we returned to our room and started packing everything we could into Jackie’s bags. It was a long, difficult process. Eventually we crammed everything inside (including the clothing and souvenirs of Jackie, myself, and Spizz). Needless to say, the bag was ridiculously heavy.

By the time we finished it was time to get some dinner. We decided to get a very authentic meal for Jackies last meal in Thailand. We wandered back to Khao San Road and visited Tom Yun Kung restaurant (Ben’s recommendation). We ordered Tom Yun Kung soup (Jackies favorite Thai dish), fried rice, and a watermelon shake. It was one of the best meals yet! The soup was easily the best I have ever had (the perfect amount of spiciness).

After dinner we did a final walk down the road and completed the last of Jackie’s shopping. We returned to our room tired and very sad. We talked for a long time about how much fun we have had over the last month and did some repacking. At 1:00 we finally fell asleep, both incredibly sad that our time together was coming to a close.
