Mt. Kilimanjaro – Nairobi, Kenya
We got up this morning at 6:45. The rain had stopped but everything was still quite wet. As we packed our things we exchanged stories of how loud the rain was last night. We enjoyed our last breakfast (I hope to not eat another egg for a long time…) and then left the slopes of the mountain.
We made the long drive back to the border. Everyone seemed very tired and there was not much excitement the entire way. Eventually we returned to the same area we visited six days ago. As we pulled into the parking lot we saw that Dixon (our guide from the previous week) was there to pick us up and take us back to Nairobi.
Once again we had to fill out all of the forms and go through several layers of customs. And, as last time, the area in-between the two immigration offices was filled with sellers. This time, however, they were much more aggressive. Once they noticed that our group was (a little) interested in souvenirs we attracted a large band that followed us everywhere. They even accompanied me to the bathroom!
Dixon eventually got everyone into the van and on the road. Once back in town we made a stop at the airport and said goodbye to the irish couple. Next, Dixon took us back to our favorite hotel in Nairobi, the Meridian Court Hotel. As usual we had to haggle with the reception to give us the price listed on Hostelworld.com. Though it was a long process, we eventually got the price we wanted…
After dropping our stuff off in our room B and I ran some errands around town. I got some contact lens solution and B purchased some more DVD’s. We had a cheap dinner, watched a movie, and used the internet for the rest of the evening.
NOTE: I just posted a bunch of blogs so be sure to go catch up. Tomorrow we are heading to Egypt. I do not know if I will be able to post blogs but I will definetly try!

Hey Sean--
Great to have the blog back! Why aren't you "Red Dirt"? Seems like it would fit (the red part, not the dirt!)
Amazing photos!! This part of the safari seemed even better than the last!
Be safe!!
Wow, Seanny! The pictures are so awesome... especially the close-up of the lioness.
Where are the giraffes?

Hi Sean
Your blog continues to amaze! Good to see that B had someone to cuddle with besides you. It gets lonely out there in the bush!
Email me when you can
Dad
If you read earlier posts, you will see that I agree with your mom about 'red dirt'.
Have fun in Egypt! Figure out if the aliens built the pyramids. I am still confused about that.
