October 15th, 2006 Dubai, United Arab Emirates

October 15, 2006
Dubai, UAE

This morning I woke up at around 10:00 and finished doing my laundry (which I started last night). Once B woke up we had a nice breakfast (eggs and muffins) and then prepared ourselves for the day.

At around 12:00 we headed for Wadi World! It is a water park located right on the beach. It is between the two fancy hotels I have described over the last couple of days. www.wildwadi.com for those that are interested.

While not incredibly large, every ride was fun. They had two artificial waves so that people cold test their boogie boarding abilities. I gave it a shot but did not like it very much. It was nothing like a real wave…

Still, the other rides were awesome. It was the first place I have been where the slides also go up! Instead of having to walk your tube to the top of the slide you ride to the top. It allows for the slides to be incredibly long. The main ride at the park was mostly uphill and took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Totally awesome!

The park was also equipped with a slide that had a very steep drop-off. It was a long climb to the top and the view from there was amazing. We could see the entire city (I wish I had my camera up there…) and even a little glimpse of the world island (sorry no picture Stevie). While fun, B came away with a large bruise on his right buttock. The other ride worth noting was a family sized tube that we rode to the top of a “mountain” and back down.

At around 17:00 we returned to our hotel completely starving. We grabbed a quick bite and then chilled out for several hours. We packed up most of our things and did several little chores.

At 21:00 we are planning on getting on the internet and preparing for our NBA fantasy draft. It should be fun to chat with some friends from home and tell them of our adventures. After, we will get to sleep because tomorrow night (actually at 2:00 the next day…) we leave for Africa!

PS - sorry for the lack of pictures, i didnt take my camera to the waterpark. Since I didnt get any photos you should look on the internet for some pics of the palm island and the world island in dubai, they are pretty amazing!

So... let me get this straight. You and B went up Wadi World Mountain and B got a bruise on his buttocks? Sounds like a recent film you and I may or may not have gone and seen together.

I looked at wildwadi.com ... my favorite part is they have a section called "Tricktastic" . A new word for my vocab.
